Overview

SolarToolsPro is a static website. The calculators on this site run entirely in your browser using JavaScript. The numbers you type into any calculator never leave your device, are never transmitted to any server, and are never stored anywhere.

This privacy policy explains what limited data we do collect (through advertising and basic web analytics) and how it's used.

Calculator inputs

We do not collect, store, or transmit any data you enter into our calculators. When you type your monthly kWh usage, your electricity rate, or your zip code into a SolarToolsPro tool, that information stays in your browser's memory and is discarded when you close the tab or navigate away. There is no backend database, no API call, no log entry.

You can verify this yourself using your browser's developer tools (Network tab) — you'll see that typing into a calculator generates zero network requests.

Advertising and Google AdSense

SolarToolsPro displays ads through Google AdSense, which uses cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other internet sites.

You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting aboutads.info.

Third-party vendors and ad networks serving ads on SolarToolsPro may use cookies. We do not control these third-party cookies and their use is subject to the respective providers' privacy policies.

Analytics

We use minimal, privacy-respecting analytics to understand aggregate traffic patterns — which pages are visited, approximate geographic region (country level), and referring websites. We do not use cookies for analytics. We do not track individual users across sessions. We do not collect IP addresses in identifiable form.

This data is used only to understand which calculators are most useful and to prioritize future development. It is never sold, shared, or used for advertising targeting.

Server logs

Our hosting provider (Cloudflare Pages) automatically logs standard request metadata for security and abuse prevention: timestamps, requested URLs, HTTP status codes, and anonymized IP addresses. These logs are retained for a limited period and are used only for diagnosing technical issues and blocking abuse. They are not correlated with your activity on the site.

What we don't collect

  • Calculator inputs — never transmitted, never stored.
  • Email addresses — we don't have a newsletter, an account system, or a contact form that requires email.
  • Personal identifiers — no name, address, phone number, or account information.
  • Precise location — country-level only, derived from IP for analytics aggregation.
  • Cross-site tracking — we don't participate in cross-site advertising networks beyond standard AdSense.

Children's privacy

SolarToolsPro is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The site is appropriate for general audiences but is designed for adults making energy decisions about their homes.

Your rights

Depending on your jurisdiction (GDPR for EU residents, CCPA for California residents, POPIA for South African residents), you have specific rights regarding personal data:

  • Right to know what personal information we collect about you.
  • Right to delete personal information we hold.
  • Right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information.

Because we don't collect personal information beyond anonymous analytics and AdSense cookies, these rights are largely already satisfied. If you have a specific request, contact us and we'll respond within 30 days.

Cookie controls

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to: refuse third-party cookies, delete existing cookies, and warn before new cookies are set. Disabling cookies will not affect calculator functionality — only ad personalization.

Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be highlighted on the home page for 30 days.
